Name: Flop

Species: Blue Jay Cyanocitta cristata

Life History: Flop came to FKWBC in 2015 after a citizen attempted to raise him. Unfortunately because of this, Flop is imprinted which means that he does not have the instinctual fear of predators (for example, humans). He also suffered trauma to his left eye, resulting in loss of vision. Due to this, he is unable to be released into the wild because he would not be able to perform normal Blue Jay behaviors. We strongly encourage those who find baby birds to call our hospital immediately to avoid situations such as Flop's. Now he "meows" his days away in our Songbird Enclosure and re-enacts scenes from Snow White with our interns and staff.
